The sibling tag-team of Anthony and Joe Russo are gearing up to bring another journey to the big screen. Entitled The Electric State by Swedish artist Simon Stålenhag, Universal Pictures has acquired the rights to develop an adaptation with Millie Bobby Brown attached to play the main character.

Endgame‘s Directing Duo Enter New Territory in The Electric State

Set in a very strange and tech-infested American landscape, The Electric State follows a young girl and her robotic companion through a thought-provoking quest to find her missing brother. To emphasize his visions, Simon Stålenhag illustrates his stories, and it’s probably the perfect source material for the Infinity War and Endgame directing duo. These drawings reveal a sinister history into the coming of advanced technology: virtual reality has become the literal reality for humans, and an array of robotic beings poison the land. Stålenhag was able to produce the book through a Kickstarter campaign. It was also on the shortlist for the 2019 Arthur C. Clarke Award.

Coupled with the recent development of the COVID-19 vaccine, there’s definite excitement for this upcoming project. Going to the movie theaters might become a thing again, and we’re hoping for more good news as this year comes to a close.
