Last week, Rockstar Games announced that Red Dead Online will not receive any more significant updates. The developer said that it is aware of the concerns with Grand Theft Auto 6. Rockstar shifted Red Dead Online’s developers to GTA 6. According to Rockstar’s Red Dead Online statement, Grand Theft Auto 6 needs to exceed players’ expectations.
Rockstar Says GTA 6 Needs to Exceed Players’ Expectations
The company revealed last week that it will stop working on Red Dead Online so that it could focus its attention on GTA 6 development. In addition to GTA’s team, Rockstar also shifted developers from Red Dead Online, ensuring that they will do their best. “Over the past few years, we have been steadily moving more development resources towards the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series,” Rockstar wrote in the blog post. “Understanding more than ever the need to exceed players’ expectations and for this next entry to be the best it can possibly be.”
It is worth noting that the new decision won’t affect the Red Dead Online servers. So you’re still free to travel on the Red Dead Redemption 2 map. Existing modes and additional missions will be playable. However, the game won’t get new seasonal special events or bug fixes. On the other hand, GTA Online will continue to receive updates because it is the one that is making more money for them. However, Red Dead Online, despite the nice community, will receive nothing more than available bonuses. Players are even making a funeral due to Red Dead Online being one year without a significant update.
