Rockstar Games has been in a precarious place with fans of their classic games. While many have accepted their process of remaking older titles and packaging them as mobile ports, many wonder why they wait. One such example is the first Red Dead Redemption which is virtually stuck on the Xbox 360. Despite being playable on modern Xbox consoles, the game has disappeared physically without a re-release. Last month, Remedy reached an agreement to move forward on a remake of the first two Max Payne games. Produced in collaboration with Rockstar studios, these games were instant classics in the third-person shooter genre. Yet, while the third title was fully developed by Rockstar, the series has laid dormant ever since. Yet, today the 10th anniversary weighed on Rockstar Games as they announced a Max Payne 3 soundtrack remaster.

To mark the 10-year anniversary of Max Payne 3, we are thrilled to announce a new version of the iconic soundtrack from @HEALTH coming later this year to digital streaming platforms and limited-edition vinyl: https://t.co/yI4ROa06kL pic.twitter.com/tg1MxYlWRO

Why Is Rockstar Games Remastering Max Payne 3 Soundtrack?

While the news seems out of the ordinary, it’s in line with the original game’s remaster. Yet, while many are hoping to see a resurgence for Max Payne 3, the potential is all in Rockstar’s court. Despite news on other remasters and remakes coming steadily, Rockstar Games has always been on the slow uptake to re-release their most prominent title. Even now, players of Max Payne 3 who missed the first two installments will eventually not be able to experience the third title in a modern context. Yet, with the upcoming remakes, it’s only a matter of time before the third installment receives the same treatment. Yet, that most likely won’t happen until Max Payne 1 and 2 receive their remake. A remaster of the game’s soundtrack, however, does hint at something to come with the Max Payne franchise, as Rockstar must have some plans.
