Rick also made a video to elaborate on what happened. “I hydroplaned heading east on 410, about 40 minutes outside of Palm Desert, just straight away hit what felt like a patch of ice,” he said, acknowledging Southern California’s recent bout of heavy rain.

The TV personality said he lost control of his car because of the slick roads and hit the wall hard. This caused his car to spin across different lanes of traffic until he hit a trailer and a Mercedes.

Rick also said one of his car windows broke, and “both airbags” deployed. He explained that the broken ribs probably came from the inflated airbags and mentioned that a “trucker helped [him] out.”

Meanwhile, Rick, who was quite injured, wants to leave the hospital already, but “doctors want to keep [him] in the hospital for a little bit. But it could have been so much worse,” he added.
