The highly-anticipated Resident Evil 2 remake is ready to hit shelves next week. Thanks to the game’s developers (via wccftech), we now know how long it will take to beat the story.
Resident Evil 2 Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi and Director Kazunori Kadoi recently attended an event for the game in Dubai. While there, Kadoi and Hirabayashi were asked how long it will take to beat the game. The two confirmed that the game’s story will take about 10 hours to complete, for each character. The second playthrough is expected to be a little shorter than the first, seeing as both protagonists share many sequences together. So, that brings the total playtime to about 20-ish hours.
Like the 1998 original Resident Evil 2, Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield will be our main two protagonists. And yes, you will be able to play as each of them separately. But, that is where the game strays away from the original in an attempt to be a full-on remake. The fixed camera view, which was either loved or hated based on who you asked, is now gone. Instead, the game will feature an over-the-shoulder point of view, much like the most recent Resident Evil titles.
This is a horror game though. Not the action-packed shoot-em-ups that have plagued the franchise over the last few years (with the exception of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard). Rooms are more condensed in an attempt to give you a claustrophobic feeling while playing. Every shot you take, as well as how long you aim, matters. Ammo is spare. Same as health and other resources. You are going to have to allocate accordingly in order to survive Raccoon City.
Resident Evil 2 will release January 25th, 2019 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
