Putting an end to the flood of leaks and teasers, Xiaomi has today unveiled the much-awaited Redmi K40 series in China. Instead of an Ultra variant like last year, the K40 lineup includes a new Pro+ variant this time around. The Redmi K40 series includes three variants — the standard Redmi K40, Redmi K40 Pro, and Redmi K40 Pro+ in China.

It will be available to buy in three color variants, namely Dreamland, Icy White, and Glossy Black. The Redmi K40 and K40 Pro goes on sale starting from 4th March in China.

Both the Redmi K40 Pro and K40 Pro+ feature a 6.67-inch Full-HD+ E4 AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch response rate. The panel boasts a 2400 x 1080-pixel resolution, up to 1300 nits of peak brightness, True Tone support, MEMC, HDR 10+ certification, and more. You will also find a tiny 2.76mm punch-hole cutout, housing a 20MP selfie camera, at the top.

Under the hood, both the Pro variants are powered by the flagship Snapdragon 888 chipset. You can see how it compares to Snapdragon 870 and Snapdragon 865 SoC right here. It’s paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The device runs Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 out-of-the-box.

The standard Redmi K40 features the exact same 120Hz E4 AMOLED display as the Pro and Pro+ variants.

Under the hood, the recently announced Snapdragon 870 5G chipset powers the Redmi K40. This chipset can be seen as the Snapdragon 865++ in real life. You also have up to 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage onboard. The device runs Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 out-of-the-box.
