Game developer Red Hook Studios is working on a sequel to their 2016 RPG, Darkest Dungeon.
An interview with PC Gamer revealed details about what to expect from the follow-up game. Red Hook also posted a short teaser trailer to their social media, which you can watch below.
It features six-character classes familiar to players of the Darkest Dungeon. The Grave Robber, Leper, Man-at-Arms, Plague Doctor, Highwayman, and Hellion stand in front of a snowy mountain peak. Wayne June provides the voice over for the trailer and will return as the game’s popular Narrator.
Developers say they are changing the way players experience combat in the direct sequel.
Red Hook Studios created the majority of Darkest Dungeons with a team of just five people. For the second in the series, the studio hired eight others and now have a team of 14 and they’re expected to hire more within the next year and a half.
Darkest Dungeon released in January of 2016. It’s a gothic roguelike turn-based RPG about the stress adventuring can have on characters. Players take control of a group of heroes as they travel the land battling monsters and exploring dungeons. The Crimson Court and The Colour of Madness DLC released in 2017 and 2018.
Red Hook Studios will be announcing more details about the game soon. For now, they say the best way to get updates is through their mailing list.
