After months of rumors, product listings, and teases by Rockstar Games, we’ve finally got a concrete release date for the upcoming Red Dead Redemption sequel.

Rockstar Games announced today that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be releasing on Oct. 26, 2018.

In the post on its official blog, Rockstar apologized to “everyone disappointed by this delay.”

“While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish,” the post reads. “We sincerely thank you for your patience and hope that when you get to play the game, you will agree the wait will have been worth it. In the meantime, please check out these screenshots from the game. We look forward to sharing a lot more information with you in the coming weeks.”

The game was originally expected to release a lot earlier. But in May of last year, Rockstar announced that the date had been delayed from the second half of 2017 to Q1/Q2 2018. We’ve known about the game since its official debut trailer back in October 2016, and have seen very little of it since its latest video reveal in September 2017. But the game recently caused a ruckus when Danish retailer Coolshop supposedly “leaked” a June 2018 release date. That obviously did not turn out to be true.

This is obviously great news for fans looking desperately for specifics about the game’s release. It’s going to be a tough next couple of weeks as we wait for additional information to drop about what will undoubtedly be one of this fall’s biggest releases.
