Survival horror fans beware – the next Outlast game is underway and promises to bring just as much fear and anxiety to the table as its predecessors. Titled The Outlast Trials, the game might not be a direct sequel to Outlast 2, but will still be set in the same horrifying universe with just as many creepy antics as expected from a franchise with such twisted creativity. So, that means we can expect some utterly chilling moments filled with spine-tingling dread. In fact, we can almost guarantee it.
David Chateauneuf of Red Barrels announced,
“Now we’ve done our proof of concept, it is time focus on content creation, variety and gore,” adds Chateauneuf.
The Outlast Trials will be set during the Cold War era, where players will engage in a set of trials either alone or with three additional subjects. That’s about as much as Red Barrels has let slip today, but we’re expecting to hear plenty more juicy details soon, seeing as the team has now ramped up production on the title. So, The Outlast Trials will, in fact, be multiplayer. And yes, it will be hauntingly pleasant and nightmarish. That’s pretty much all we need to take away from the announcement today.
There has been no release window mentioned as of yet, but we’ll probably be putting our money on a late 2020 release. Whatever it may be, we’ll be sure to keep our ears to the ground for the next phase announcement. Until then, cross your fingers and prepare for unencumbered thrills.
