Rachel Brosnahan can relate to youth homelessness, and she made no secret in her recent interview. The actress, who marks her 10th year as a member of the Covenant House, admitted she felt honored to have been a part of the initiative for so long. According to her, she fell in love with the nonprofit in the early days of her career. She has since resonated with their cause.

The charity organization focuses on providing food, housing, and healthcare to the homeless across 31 cities. The actress would join other affiliated celebrities to hit the street on Sunday, November 13, 2022, for the organization’s annual New York City Sleep Out, aimed at raising money and creating awareness for the homeless. The initiative would see these famous figures spend the night outdoors, equipped with only cardboard boxes and sleeping bags.

What Youth Homelessness Meant For Rachel Brosnahan

For Rachel Brosnahan, it would be her 10th year participating in the Covenant House sleep out. Her affiliation with the nonprofit was triggered after getting moved by a young person she met during her first Sleep Out Event. The encounter left her imagining what life would have been like for her with a little shift in circumstances. Speaking to People, she reflected:

The star went on to explain that many youths lacked someone to tell them they were loved and had a bright future ahead of them. Most never had an opportunity to dream. Rachel Brosnahan noted that Covenant House tried to bridge that gap while tackling youth homelessness. In her opinion, young people from the LGBTQ+ community, especially, were more predisposed to homelessness and the associated abuse than their non-LGBTQ+ peers.

Hence, Covenant House worked to offer a judgment-free space for benefactors and beneficiaries. Leveraging her stardom, Rachel Brosnahan has won over more supporters for the cause to tackle youth homelessness. For this year’s sleep out, she has the backing of her Marvelous Mrs Maisel castmates, who would join the cause, to spotlight the mostly-overlooked issue of homelessness. The actress divulged:

This isn’t the first time the 32-year-old would address her passion for tackling homelessness or her affiliation with Covenant House. Previously, she reflected on her determination to ensure youths experiencing homelessness did not become invisible. To achieve that, she strives to volunteer her talent and time to Covenant House while donating consistently to their causes.
