Queer Eye Jonathan Van Ness opens up about his eating disorder. When looking at the cast of this show, you wouldn’t think any of them are overweight. But it can be a very personal and lonesome struggle for many people. Moreover, just because someone looks fit to us does not mean they look fit to themselves when they look in the mirror. Jonathan himself had an issue with binge eating. For the uninformed, that means eating almost until one is so full they feel sick. This can be followed sometimes by purging, which is exactly what it sounds like, though that is not specified here. Yet he is brave enough to admit he has an issue with it he is trying to overcome.

But upon revealing it, he’s also revealed he finally has the help he needed. He also shares some weight loss photos but also shares that he lost that weight the right way with diet and exercise. Sometimes for weight loss, one just needs a slight lifestyle change or two. After that, everything just starts to fall into place.

“The Queer Eye star is getting even more vulnerable, as he publicly revealed he struggles with an eating disorder. Jonathan shared a video of himself doing Gymnastics on Instagram using the song “Fabulous” by Ally Brooke in the background. Jonathan explained that he’s been struggling with a binge eating disorder for a while and hasn’t always prioritized eating. This would cause him to become extremely hungry, and then when he would eat, he would binge to cure the hunger. Luckily, the star received help in April and is doing much better. He explained that “Gymnastics is a huge source of joy” in his life, and he wants to stay healthy, so he can keep doing it. Since getting help, he’s started planning when he eats, so he no longer binges when he does eat. Jonathan added, “I was nervous to talk about it, but I feel it’s important to share, we are not alone, and It’s good to ask for help when you need it.”

Queer Eye Jonathan Van Ness opens up about his eating disorder. Furthermore, the disorder often isn’t associated with men, causing many to struggle alone. Van Ness just opened more doors, making it a topic of discussion. The reality is, eating disorders and body dysmorphia affect a great many people. Maybe by him bringing it to attention, it can help more people facing it.

We also wish him well on his journey of healing. And we commend him for coming forth.
